Diana Perez Ruiz
Clinical Intern
Diana Perez-Ruiz is a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program at Mount Mary University. As a daughter of Mexican immigrants and a first-generation college student, she values the importance of a multicultural and person-centered approach in counseling. She believes that identity plays a meaningful role in who individuals are and who they become.
Diana incorporates elements of Solution-Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, supporting clients through problem-solving while balancing acceptance and change. She looks forward to expanding her skills in trauma-focused modalities, including Brainspotting and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Diana holds her SAC-IT and earned her B.A. in Psychology from Mount Mary University. She has experience in addictions and Medication-Assisted Treatment, as well as prior experience in case management and resource support for low-income and minority youth and adults in the Milwaukee area.
She is passionate about helping individuals overcome the stigmas associated with mental health and addiction. With a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and compassionate approach, Diana is dedicated to supporting both English- and Spanish-speaking individuals within the community.
